Las Vegas (KLAS) — Clark County School District and St. Jude’s Ranch For Children are working together to help teenage victims of sexual trafficking after getting approval to build and run a new school.

The plan is to build a school on the existing campus of St. Jude in Boulder City.

When the school is built, it will serve approximately 60 students living on the premises.

Building a new school is expected to cost about $ 5 million.

According to CCSD, director Jesus F. Jara envisioned a new school plan after previously visiting the healing center site.

“Las Vegas has been a hotbed of sexual trafficking for years. When the school is built, it will protect, serve and educate these vulnerable youth,” said Jesus F. Jara. The director says. “We look forward to the day when this facility will pay the special attention needed to these children, overcome their trauma and lead a healthy and productive life.”
