University of Washington Associate Professor Wendy Barrington Become a Featured Speaker at University 38NS Annual convocation of new students. Barrington is co-appointed by the Faculty of Nursing, Department of Pediatric, Family and Population Health, and the Department of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Health Systems and Department of Population Health.
This year’s hybrid ceremony will begin on Tuesday, September 28th, at 3:00 pm at Rainier Vista, just south of the Drumheller Fountain. Students enrolling in the convocation chose one of a limited number of face-to-face tickets or requested a virtual ticket and watched the one-hour ceremony in the following ways: Live webcast..
The convocation welcomes admission, officially marks the beginning of the academic year, and classes begin on September 29th. At the suggestion of health officials, this year’s ceremony was moved from the Alaska Airlines Arena in the Hekuedmundson Pavilion to the Rainier Vista Lawn. Approximately 1,200 students will participate directly here. The event will also be streamed online, welcoming other students, family, friends, and the entire campus community.
Convening new students is one of two opportunities for the President of Anamari Course, the Board of Directors, the Dean of 16 schools and universities, and faculty to meet for a student-focused academic ceremony. Another event is starting. Together, these two events are important “bookend” events for college careers.
The convocation begins with an academic procession led by Marshal Joseph Janes University, an associate professor at UW’s Information School, which carries the university’s mace. President Kors, Mark Richards of Provost, board members, dean, vice president, vice president, and student leaders will join the procession.
