Consumer electronics shows usually feature a number of high-tech tools and toys that are often not used in practice. However, a pair of devices featured this year may help prevent the death of children’s hot cars.

The device is from an Italian company and is called TataPad and TataBand.

A smart child seat alarm that detects when a child has been misplaced in a child seat. This technology links with the parent’s smartphone and sends an alert if a child is detected after the car has stopped, but the device does not stop there.

“If you don’t respond in 3, 4, or 7 minutes, you’ll notify your parents and the sequence of notifications will escalate,” said Sarah Lekach, Mashable’s traffic reporter.

On average, more than 30 children die annually when left in a child seat during hot weather.

These are the types of technology that can help save lives. The products may not be as flashy as big screen TVs, but these can be much more important.

The Tata Pad sells for $ 75 on the company’s website.
