Colorado Springs — The state has announced a new treatment option for Colorado people who test positive for COVID-19 or believe they may be infected with COVID-19.
New telemedicine options are currently available and are expected to facilitate patient care.
COVID-19 treatment It works best when taken within a few days of feeling sick or positive on the test. Telemedicine can help speed up the process of accessing treatment, especially for rural Coloradans and others who do not have access to face-to-face appointments fast enough.
Telemedicine means connecting with your doctor through a phone or video call. With telemedicine, your doctor can evaluate you and, if needed, provide a treatment plan that meets your needs. Coloradans with a healthcare provider can ask if telemedicine is an option to learn more about COVID-19 treatment.
People who do not have a provider, or who do not provide telemedicine, may have direct access to the telemedicine provider. Many commercial insurance companies provide telemedicine services to their members. People need to contact their insurance company to find out if telemedicine services are available through their plans. This avoids out-of-pocket costs.
In addition, CDPHE has identified certain telemedicine services that offer same-day or next-day appointments to Coloradans seeking treatment. Some of these services may accept private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
