Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — The Arizona Department of Transportation is undertaking a major project on the I-10 and Houghton Road.
A new type of interchange called the “divergent diamond interchange” is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The new interchange will affect the traffic flow to and from the I-10.

New Houghton Road Diversing Diamond Interchange
Once in the car, you can turn left or right on the highway using the split lanes of the exchange. This means that some drivers drive on the left side of the road for a short time.
We will also add stop lights to allow these exchange lanes to intersect each other and modify traffic flow.
This type of exchange is safer, says ADOT. This interchange corresponds to the growth the town area is seeing.
By 2045, traffic on Horton Road is expected to increase by up to 500%.
