New resources for parents in Colorado could help students stay engaged and support their learning at home as they return to their more normal school routines.
Rebecca Holmes, CEO of the Colorado Education Initiative, created the site Family ready for the future After seeing some of the benefits of distance learning during a pandemic.
“(Parents) were sitting in the front row of their children’s learning last year, so they have a unique interest and can say,’I have more to understand,'” Holmes said. rice field.
The Future Lady family has family-friendly resources on timely topics such as loss of learning and parent teacher meetings. There are also quizzes that students can take so that parents can measure their reading and math progress.
According to Holmes, the goal of the site was not to overwhelm families with too much information, but to tailor it to the questions their parents ask.
“When you ask your family what they need, they increase the presence of your website and social media,” Holmes said.
She said she hopes the site will provide parents with tools to support students at home and tips for effectively communicating with schools and teachers.
