Officials say 24-year-old James McGonnagle hit his face when a NYPD police officer tried to get his fingerprint. The policeman bled on his face.
They say the incident happened when he was in custody at a local hospital.
McGonaguru Detained on friday In connection with trying to kidnap a 5-year-old boy in Queens on Thursday.
Police initially charged him with attempted kidnapping, reckless danger, and actions harmful to children.
Update: A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with the following charges:

A video released on Friday walks with his mother as McGonaguru gets out of the red car to pick up the boy and takes him to the car while another suspect is sitting in the passenger seat5. Shows a year old child.

The boy’s mother, Dolores Diaz Lopez, saw it happening and reached out through the open front window of the car, pulling his son away from the man and pulling him out of the car.
According to sources, the police officer was in a hospital where McGonough had an unrelated problem when he recognized McGonaguru from the video.
They say McGonaguru was in the hospital seeking some treatment and was detained.
Police are still looking for a second suspect.
Police sources tell our sister office WABC The older man who saw him walking next to McGonough was his father.
The mother of a five-year-old boy called out on Friday.

Diaz Lopez said the man was walking with his children on his way to his husband for work when he grabbed his son Jacob.
“I said,’Oh, my god, my children, oh, my god, my boy,'” said Diaz Lopez.
She said his son was initially sitting in the backseat, but after she and her children begged them to return the boy, he stood up and she was able to grab him.
The suspect ran south on Hillside Avenue and west on Jamaica Avenue.
“I don’t know why it happened. I’ve never seen those people,” said Diaz Lopez.
She explained in Spanish that her mother’s instinct was why she fought and acted in another way.
“No matter what, we have to do what we need,” he said. “The car was just parked there. I never imagined a man would get out of the car and grab his son. You should always be aware of your surroundings and avoid making phone calls.”
Jacob had been playing video games on his cell phone by Friday afternoon, but Lopez says all three children were traumatized and refused to leave the house.
“Mothers have to be careful of their children,” she said. “There are so many wicked people that I don’t know who is nearby, so always hold your hand when you walk with them.”
Police have released photos of the two suspects.
The child is not injured and the motive remains a mystery.
This vehicle is called the old model maroon 4-door sedan.
