New York Mets owner Steve Cohen complained to left-handed Steven Matz’s agent on Twitter Wednesday morning.

“I’m not happy this morning,” Cohen said in a post. “I have never seen such non-professional behavior shown by a player’s agent. I don’t think words or promises are relevant.”

Former Met Matz, who pitched to the Toronto Blue Jays last season, has reportedly agreed to a four-year $ 44 million deal. St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.

Cohen Told the New York Post Matz and his agent, Rob Martin, contacted him to return to Mets and said they were his first choice.

Billy Eppler, Mets’new general manager, also told the post that he thought he had a chance to make an offer to Mats before the team made the final decision.

Mets exchanged Mats (30 years old) for the Blue Jays before the 2021 season and posted a 3.82 ERA 14-7 record with 29 starts.

In the second round of the pick in 2009, Matz pitched for six seasons in New York, holding a record of 4.35 ERA and 552 strikeouts at 579 and 31-41 in two-thirds innings with the team.

“(Mats) had a good encounter when he was here,” Cohen told the post. “I hope he gets well. This was about interacting with the agent.”
