Lauren Pefal, a special education assistant at Mabel Rush Elementary School, spurred national controversy with her actions.
Newberg, ore. (Pamplin Media Group) — A Newberg school employee wearing a black face and calling himself Rosa Parks on September 17 — a reference to the symbol of civil rights that fought racism on public buses — remains rebellious. ..
Lauren Pefal, a special education assistant at Mabel Rush Elementary School, at the heart of the controversy, was first identified by the Pamplin Media Group.
Despite a national counterattack against her actions, and despite her employment being at stake, Pefal performed a conservative Portland radio host Lars Larson show on Thursday, September 23. I talked about it. Rosa Parks.
“I’m not vaccinated, so I feel isolated,” Pefal said. “Something is wrong here. The next day I went to work and colored the skin darkly. I was working in the morning but I had the opportunity to talk to the staff … people today I think it represents Rosa Parks on racism. When I was briefly talking to a particular employee … she didn’t allow me to be heard completely and very much allowed me to march into the principal’s office. It was comfortable. “
Pefal told Mabel Rush principal Tim Lauer that she had dressed as Rosa Parks and told her to talk to the people right away.
Larson asked Pefal if he would characterize what he did as a blackface.
“I had dark skin makeup on my face, hands, and the parts of my body that were showing my skin,” Pefal said. “I honestly don’t even know the term, so I never thought of the word blackface. I don’t know what it means, and I don’t use that language either.”
Larson also asked Pefal if he felt something was wrong with what he had done.
“I don’t,” she said.
