Nissan remembers one of the SUV models because the hood unexpectedly popped up and obstructed the driver’s view.
The vehicles involved in the recall are the 2013-2016 Pathfinder.
According to the Department of Road Safety, closing the hood can cause the secondary hood latch to malfunction and remain unlatched.
This can cause the hood to open unexpectedly when the car is in motion.
Documents posted on the NHTSA website indicate that dust and dirt may collect on and around the pivot joint of the bell crank lever and the latch may remain open when the hood is closed.
Japanese car makers are working on ways to solve the problem.
The letter notifying the owner should be scheduled from July 18th.
