North Korea states that it has successfully test-launched a newly developed long-range cruise missile.
Weekend testing will be the country’s first known testing activity in a few months and will highlight how it continues to expand its military power in the stalemate of nuclear negotiations with the United States.
The Korean Central News Agency said on Monday that a two-year cruise missile had successfully attacked a target 1,500 kilometers away on Saturday and Sunday.
North Korea welcomed the new weapon as a “very important strategic weapon” and responded to Prime Minister Kim Jong-un’s call to strengthen its military power.
The US Indo-Pacific Army said North Korea’s activities reflect a threat to the international community.
