November in Tucson was one of the warmest on record. Third, to be precise.

More is expected in December, according to the National Meteorological Service.

Aaron Hardin, a forecaster for the NWS Tucson, said November 2021 would be third with an average maximum temperature of 82.7 degrees Celsius. Only November 2012 and 1894 showed higher averages, each reaching its highest at 84.1 degrees.

In one context, the average maximum temperature of 82.7 degrees in November this year is more than 3 degrees higher than 79.5 degrees in November last year, and more than 7 degrees higher than the normal average maximum temperature in areas just above 75 degrees.

According to Hardin, the average minimum temperature this month was 52.4 degrees Celsius, nearly three degrees higher than the monthly average of 49 degrees Celsius.

Tucson also tied the second highest mark in November days above 80 degrees.

When temperatures exceeded 80 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, Tucson recorded the 24th day of at least 80 degrees Celsius in November.

The record for the number of days above 80 degrees in November is the 28th set in 1894.

For those who want December to bring cool weather to the holidays, the National Climate Prediction Center’s forecast says it expects another dry, warmer month.
