Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) — The murdered St. Thomas West ICU nurse Katelyn Kaufmann’s alma mater established a scholarship fund in honor of her.
Butler County Community College said Wednesday that a recently established fund has grown to more than $ 13,000 in less than a month.
Kaufman graduated from a nursing school in western Pennsylvania in 2018.
The school said the donations came from four states. This is what the university president called “really unbelievable.”
Details: The murdered nurse is the second student in a Pennsylvania school murdered on the Tennessee Interstate.
Katelyn Kaufmann, a nurse at St. Thomas West Hospital, was shot dead on Interstate 440 on December 3, 2020, when someone fired at an SUV while driving. She was only 26 years old.
President Nicholas Neupauer remembered Kaufman as a brilliant star.
“We can tell you and the viewers of Nashville that we are grieving, Caitlin represents the best of our college. To get the big picture, to the audience I think it’s important to give Butler a complete expression. The steel industry declined in the 70’s and early 80’s, but there are still remnants of the steel industry and immigrants who came to the steel industry. , People who take great pride in the community, give back to the community, and are incredibly hardworking. That was Caitlin, “recalls Dr. Neupauer.
He asks everyone to keep Caitlin and her family in their prayers.
“We are completely broken heart. We continue to pray for our family and Caitlin. We will talk about her legacy.
Will live forever. “
