Auckland — Three shootings in East Auckland on Friday night killed a man and injured three others. One is in the middle of a robbery.
Shooting is irrelevant, officials said.
A deadly shooting that killed a 25-year-old Auckland man and injured a 23-year-old Stockton woman took place at a gas station on 106th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard around 6:54 pm on Friday.
The shooting resulted from some sort of quarrel involving another person who fled before the police arrived. Both victims were taken to a hospital where the man died and the woman was in a stable condition. Their names have not yet been announced, and police have not revealed whether the two know each other.
The motive for the shooting was not disclosed, and no arrest was announced.
The murder is the 31st murder investigated by Auckland police this year. At this point last year, police investigated 10 murders in the city.
Robbery-related shootings occurred at about 9:35 pm on the 1200 block on 73rd Avenue.
A 31-year-old man told police that he was standing on the sidewalk when two men approached him and demanded his money. He told police that the man was shot before he received cash from him and fled.
He was taken to the hospital and was in a stable condition. The suspect is being sought.
Another shooting took place around 8:30 pm on Block 6100 on East 17th Avenue.
A 53-year-old man heard a gunshot and told police that he was walking and noticed that he had been shot in the foot. At least three parked vehicles were also shot, but no other injuries were reported. Multiple shell casings were found on the street.
Police are trying to determine if the injured man was the intended target or was hit by a stray bullet. The motive for the shooting has not yet been determined and has not been arrested.
