Hingham, Massachusetts. (WHDH)-According to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office, authorities are investigating after the off-duty Randolph police officer was killed in a rollover accident in Hingham on Saturday.
An officer who responded to a report of a collision on Route 3 at 6:45 am said he discovered that the car had rolled over and collided at the median, and another car with a damaged front end was in the breakdown lane. Officials said. The median car driver, identified as Norwell’s Michael Beer, 61, was declared dead on the scene.
Other car drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Randolph, police chief, said Beer was a 35-year veteran of the division and was “a great person and friend for everyone in the division.”
The crash is under investigation.
