Yukio Okutsu’s Veterans’ Home on the Big Island of Hawaii has been temporarily suspended due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. Hawaii News Now Reported Thursday night.

Health officials said the test results were false positives. However, while the State Department was retesting all staff for the coronavirus, the house decided to stop the visit with great care.

The staff in question are preparing meals and do not have direct contact with the people who live in the house. Employees are also fully vaccinated, but very few may still be infected with symptomatic COVID-19.

Yukio was hit harder by the pandemic than any other single entity in Hawaii. A total of 71 inhabitants were infected with COVID-19. Twenty-seven of them died of subsequent complications.

As part of its safety protocol, the home has announced that it will not accept new residents until the false positive investigation is complete.
