Quincy, Massachusetts (AP) — Authorities have announced the identity of a 19-year-old man who drowned on Sunday at Mound Street Beach in Quincy.

According to police, Brockton’s Erisandro Silva was playing soccer on the beach and chased the ball to the surface, but never left.

Police were called to the beach at around 2:15 pm to report someone who had not resurfaced in the sea.

Multiple agencies and two private divers worked together to help lift teens out of “muddy” waters.

Silva was taken to South Shore Hospital and confirmed dead.

Due to the rise in temperature in the 1990s, there have been several drowning and near-drown accidents in the area over the past few days.
