By law, it is illegal to have an abortion after six weeks in Ohio. Ohio passed the bill in 2019, but it was temporarily suspended until the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade case.
“Without court action, many Ohio citizens will be forced to give birth against their will, many will have an illegal or dangerous abortion, and some will die. Large numbers of patients seeking abortion. The majority of people of color and low-income groups are affected by disproportion, said Freda Levenson, head of legal affairs at ACLU in Ohio.
Plaintiffs have asked the Ohio Supreme Court to order state authorities not to enforce the law and declare the ban unconstitutional.
