Ohio soldier killed in World War II identified – Cleveland, Ohio

Dover, Ohio (WJW) – Defense POW / MIA Accounting Office (DPAA) Tuesday, Northeast Ohio A soldier killed in 1944 has been identified and returned to Japan.

24-year-old Army Private Emmet W. Schwartz Dover He was killed in action on December 27, 1944 in a German bombardment.

His body was described in July 2021 and is currently being arranged for a funeral in Ohio.

A set of unidentified bodies was recovered from the fox hole where Pvt is. Schwartz was believed to have been killed. They were buried in a French cemetery and dismantled for identification in June 2019.

Dentistry, anthropology, and DNA analysis confirmed that the body was indeed Schwartz.

A rosette is placed next to his name, indicating that he was explained on the missing wall in the Netherlands.

Schwartz will be buried on November 18, 2021 New Philadelphia,Ohio.
