Tulsa, Oklahoma-The Oklahoma Department of Health announced a “draft” of the COVID-19 vaccination program on Friday.
This was after Governor Kevin Stitt met with Vice President Mike Pence earlier this week to consider a state vaccine plan.
The plan includes a disclaimer that makes it clear that the documentation is intended to be flexible and not the final version. According to the document, health experts anticipate a major revision of the plan based on final information about the state’s first vaccine distribution.
Health officials have divided the distribution of vaccine plans into three phases.
According to the report, the number of doses available in Phase 1 is limited.
The first round of vaccination goes to a “priority group” that includes nursing homes, life support and care facility staff, residents and health care workers.
According to the plan, the vaccine will be sent to the local health department or hospital provider as more shipments become available.
Phase 1 takes place from November to December.
In Phase 2, more doses will be available to meet the demand.
According to the document, the local health department and some tribes will be able to administer the vaccine quickly through mass vaccination clinics. Providers can also set up carveside and drive at the vaccine clinic.
Vaccinated are first responders, more healthcare workers, and vulnerable people staying in homeless shelters and group homes.
The report shows that this phase occurs from January to March.
In Phase 3, the vaccine will be available to educators, other essential workers, and all Oklahoma people. This phase will take place in the spring of 2021.
