Arvada, Colorado — A deadly shooting in Old Town Arvada killed another police officer, a good Sumaritan, and a suspect, after which Arvada police officers were on leave.

A 59-year-old Ronald Troike was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner office as being shot dead by police, according to APD.
According to Strate, Troik ambushed Beasley because he was targeting someone with a police uniform and badge because of his hatred of the police.

Under my authority, the response teams of multiple agencies in Jefferson County are from the entire law enforcement agency. Beasley worked for the police for 19 years. APD said he was a school resource officer or SRO at Oberon Middle School and was patroling during the summer vacation. Jeffco Public School said it was also the SRO of the Lincoln Academy and the Excel Academy Charter School.
According to APD, two shelter-in-place orders were placed on Monday after the shooting, and both orders were lifted that night.
