Colorado Springs — November is National Adoption Month, and News 5 emphasizes the story of foster parent adoption.

The US foster care system has 120,000 children who need a family and are eligible for adoption.

At Bethany Christian Services, Colorado Springs’ foster parent adoption agency, 46% more people are attending foster parent adoption and foster parent adoption briefings.

Coray Watson started foster care two years ago and wanted to help foster children reunite with their biological family.

“In general, the way I see foster parents is in the middle, while parents can understand how to get their children back,” Watson said. “If that doesn’t happen ideally, I’d like to adopt a foster parent’s child.”

She took care of the newborns she spent in the NICU throughout the trip and had no family to take care of. Korei has decided to adopt the baby instead of staying in foster parents for a long time and will officially adopt this week.

“Sometimes you can’t fit all the kids in the world in your home,” Watson explained. “So sometimes you have to be that bridge to give them to the waiting family.”

Adoptive parents do not have to be married or already have children. You can become a foster parent even if you have a full-time job.
