Hundreds of residents were waiting in line at the Franconia Government Center in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Saturday morning for the final day of the state’s early voting.

Hector Sheves and his sister Madeline, from Springfield, lined up to vote around 7:30 am at one of the county’s 14 early voting sites. “It’s better to vote early than on the day, it’s better to just get over it,” said Hector, who votes for Joe Biden.

Madeline said he was excited to see today’s turnout, with hundreds of other people lined up.

“It’s important to vote because it makes a difference.”

Andy Flick and her sister Gabriella, wrapped in towels to relieve the cold in the morning, were also waiting for a vote.

This is the first time Andy has voted in the general election.

“I want to get over it before the election day comes,” said Andy, who said the voter just before it said, “Oh! I have to vote.”

This year’s election said Gabriella knew she had to participate.

“This is especially important for getting your voice heard and voting for the right people,” Gabriella added.

So far, 1.7 million people have voted early in Virginia.Virginia Early Voting Ends Saturday at 5pm
