One person died after a house exploded in a Roman community in Jefferson County on Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Paul Mill Brass says it happened just before 1:50 pm When paramedics arrived at Westwater Street’s home, it was completely flattened.
“The person who lived in the dwelling was alone at home, and that person was the only one in the dwelling,” says Milbras.
Milbras added that there were no other injuries from the explosion. “There are signs of other property damage to other homes, including some structures due to structural damage (and) debris in the form of broken windows, and other damage to their siding.”
After that, We Energies shut off the gas, causing several hours of evacuation of surrounding homes within a square mile.
The Wisconsin Fire Marshal Office is assisting in investigating the cause of the explosion.
