Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) —A man was taken to a seriously injured but non-life-threatening local hospital Thursday night after a shooting in western Wichita.
Wichita police (WPD) said police officers responded to a nearby shooting call around 9:30 pm on Thursday. W 13th St. N and Maize Rd. Western Wichita.
When they arrived, they talked to a 25-year-old man who said he was in the area when he found his stolen motorcycle being driven by another man.
There was a battle between the two men, and the 25-year-old man fired a shot from his firearm. Then another man left the scene, and a 25-year-old man contacted 911 and waited for police to arrive.
Twenty minutes later, the policeman was at another gas station near the intersection W Kellogg’s Avenue and Corn Rd. When a 46-year-old man approached him and said he was shot. EMS took the man to the hospital.
The man told the policeman he was nearby W21st St. and NTyler Rd. When he heard some gunshots and noticed he was shot. WPD believes this man was the one who was driving a motorcycle.
Investigation is still underway.
