Denver — Law enforcement officials in the Denver region provided updates on Wednesday morning about one of the largest fentanyl pill attacks in state history.
Eight people were indicted in the 18th Judicial District after nearly 200,000 fentanyl tablets were confiscated. A survey of this drug trafficking organization in the Denver Metro area began last December.
It started with a single small purchase of the drug and led to more purchases with large investigations, wiretapping investigations, and some large drug attacks.
Law enforcement officials said the drug came from Mexico, but did not identify the conspirators who were the main source of the drug in the case.
The indicted people intended to distribute drugs in the Denver Metro area.
“In 31 years of law enforcement, I’ve never seen anything like the current drug crisis and how it affects our community … Such a large amount of fentanyl retains the caliber of weapons of mass destruction, “said Brian Besser, DEA Special Agent.
Law enforcement agencies also recovered over £ 9 of heroin, 1 kilogram of cocaine, four guns, and $ 60,000 of stolen goods.
Enforcement also revealed a money laundering operation. One of the suspects indicted has been accused of sending money from drug sales to Mexico.
