Greenville, South Carolina (WSPA) – The Wings of the City Art Exhibition will leave Greenville at the end of October next year for Raleigh, but the city of Greenville is a statue — forever.
The Wings of the City Art Exhibition includes nine bronze sculptures created by artist Jorge Marine. They have been on display in downtown Greenville since early April and I didn’t plan to stay for a very long time.
“The city of Greenville is very proud to have held this wonderful traveling exhibition for the first time on the East Coast,” said city spokeswoman Beth Brotherton.
She said the exhibits were incredibly popular. Now they are not sure if they are ready to leave the statue completely.
“And one of the things we’re considering in collaboration with the Hispanic Alliance and potentially other donors is how to maintain the work, though not one of the actual works. , How can I store this work here in Greenville? “Brotherton explained.
She said she was thinking of asking the artist to make a replica of the most iconic Mexican Wing work.
She now says it’s just an idea, but it’s created a lot of talk.
“This is to commemorate the time the exhibit spent here in Greenville, as it’s another reason people want to travel here, focusing on the art here in Greenville, and it’s with us. “Brotherton said.
She said there are many steps from now on to actually make it happen.
“Talk to the artist and make sure he’s willing to do it and duplicate it for us,” Brotherton said. “We need to find this place. There are many approval processes that both the arts committee and the city council in public places need to finally decide if this is what we can do here.”
7 News contacted the Hispanic Alliance for comment on potential plans. We are still looking forward to your reply.
