Washington, PA (KDKA) – A major topic in the current conversation is when to get the coronavirus vaccine. The state has no clear plans, but Washington County has the information in one place.
“We meet regularly with commissioners and hospitals in the county,” said Jeff Yates, director of public security at Washington County.
Yates told KDKA that there was no real way to track who was vaccinated and who wasn’t vaccinated, so a solution came up.
“Currently we’re focusing on 1A, but it’s designed for 1A, 1B, and 1C groups rather than personal registration,” says Yates.
The county website has a Google Docs form for vaccine registration. It can also be found here.
Key workers in the Washington, Fayette, and Green counties can use it to register their organizations. The goal is to vaccinate a group of people at once, such as the police or school district.
“In that form, fill in the number of people who need vaccination, contact person, contact person information, and finally select where you want to be vaccinated,” says Yates.
The obvious choice for the site is two hospitals in the county, but Yates said many independent pharmacies have stepped up to be added to the list.
“If there are certain entities that have surplus vaccines, they can go to the list to see who on the 1A list still needs to do and contact them to see if they are interested. We can do the 1A group more efficiently without wasting vaccines, “says Yates.
This site is open to all Phase 1 groups to register. Now when it is time to vaccinate the general public individually, Yates said the process may need to be reassessed.
“Our vaccinated people actually see and use it. It actually acts as a gateway to bring these groups into the system,” says Yates.
The registration form is a partnership between the county, Montvalley Hospital, Washington Health System, Center Building Clinic, and Cornerstone Clinic.
