Oracle Equities fell by as much as 3% in an extended deal on Monday after enterprise software makers reported lower-than-expected first-quarter earnings.

Oracle’s largest business segment, cloud services and licensing support, generated $ 7.37 billion in revenue. That’s up 6%, below the Street Account’s consensus estimate of $ 7.41 billion.
Revenues in the cloud and on-premises licensing segments were $ 813 million, down 8% to below the $ 859.7 million consensus. Oracle’s hardware unit revenue was $ 763 million, down 6% from the $ 778.5 million estimate.
Oracle boosted capital spending to more than $ 1 billion, compared to $ 436 million in the year-ago quarter. The investment is made after the executive signals that they need the infrastructure needed to meet their projected cloud demand. In a statement, Oracle said cloud infrastructure and cloud applications now account for 25% of total revenue.
