Corvallis, Oregon (AP) — A faculty researcher at Oregon State University has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual offense allegedly committed in Virginia.

Corvallis Gazette-Times reports that 66-year-old Brett Tyler was detained in Benton County Jail on Thursday, October 7. Tyler was the director of OSU’s Center for Quantitative Life Sciences.

Steve Clark, an OSU spokesman, said Tyler has resigned as director of the Center for Quantitative Life Sciences.
According to court documents, Tyler has been charged with two compulsory sodomies in Virginia, two acquisitions of obscene freedom with children, and one aggravated sexual assault. Attempts to determine which lawyer represents Tyler were unsuccessful.

According to the Benton County Prison List, Tyler was detained on bail of $ 200,000 as a fugitive from Virginia. He was released on October 11th.
