OSHP investigates Wayne County fatal crash – Cleveland, Ohio

Ohio Wayne Township (WJW) — Ohio Highway Patrol Wayne County yesterday.

According to a release from OSHP, it happened after 6 pm on Smithville Western Road, west of Wayne Township’s State Highway 83.

Police say Smithville resident John Murray was driving west on a black 2006 Cadillac CTS when he lost control of the vehicle, partially across the centerline.

Cadillac continued to hit the ditch and fence from the right side of the road. It turned over and finally rested on the roof.

Murray, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown out of the car and sentenced to death at the scene, officials said.

The 12-year-old passenger was taken to Wooster Community Hospital by the Central Fire Department and then died at Akron Children’s Hospital.

The Wayne County Coroners Office and the Wayne County Sheriffs Office helped the field.

Officers say alcohol does not seem to be the cause of this crash.

The crash is under investigation.
