Broken Arrow, Oklahoma — OSU’s School of Osteopathic Medicine hosted a lab coat ceremony that ended Saturday afternoon.

The ceremony is a rite of passage for hundreds of OSU students entering the field of medicine.

OSU welcomed the medical practice of covering hundreds of first-year medical students in lab coats.

The event took place at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center.

Andrew Cook says it was a lifelong dream to cross the stage today and reach this milestone.

“The feeling of walking on stage and getting this white coat deserved all the sacrifices,” Cook says.

His parents were unable to attend because his mother tested positive for COVID-19, but his kindergarten teacher saved the day.

She drove for about 4 hours just to be there for Cook’s special moment.

Andrew’s kindergarten teacher, Stephanie Lawson, told 2 News: It. “
