Staff International has appointed Francesco Tonbolini as responsible for business development and licensing. It is an important role for companies that develop, manufacture and sell OTB-owned labels under license, such as Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni and Viktor & Rolf.
After graduating from Bocconi University in Milan with a bachelor’s degree in economics, Tonbolini has spent nearly 40 years in the field of luxury and fashion, working with leading Italian celebrities such as Armani and Gucci.
After cutting professional teeth on several labels, Tombolini joined the Giorgio Armani Group in the 1990s as the commercial director of Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans. He then moved to Gucci as Sales Director, returned to Armani in 2004 and was appointed General Manager of Emporio. Four years later, he began collaborating with various investment funds, supporting activities with fashion labels such as Vilebrequin and Jeckerson.
Following his mission at Dirk Bikkemberg, in 2014 Tombolini joined the Italian fashion e-tailer Yoox, where he worked specifically as COO. In 2018, he again began working as a consultant for various investment funds and companies. For the past three years, Tombolini was also chairman of the Italian Fashion Buyer Association, Camera Buyer Italia, before Giacomo Santucci took over him in the spring.
