RV apparently dumped the waste on residential SE Portland Street
Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — Kristin Sassano received a text message from a neighbor who woke up on Friday morning.
“I woke up this morning with a text message from a neighbor, informing me that our house in front of the house was hit by feces again,” Sassano told KOIN 6 News.
She lives near 78 Southeast and Frobel and said this wasn’t the first time someone on the RV decided her streets to be a dump. So what she saw on Friday morning wasn’t really a shock.
“We went out and found about three inches of trash dumped in front of the house,” she said.
Surveillance cameras took pictures of the RV, dumped the trash, and said the neighbor saw it.
“Neighbors across the street actually came out when they were opening the tube and they took off after yelling at them to get out of here,” she said.
The smell was so strong that I broke into her house.
“The smell is bad when the windows are open, and the fans are blowing cold air at night because there is no air conditioning,” Sassano said.
But the stench wasn’t what she was worried about.
“You don’t know what’s in human excrement,” she said. “In a residential area where kids play, you don’t have to throw your dog on the street where he’s biking around.”
Sassano contacted the city of Portland and said he had a quick response with a cleanup crew. They told her about a new program designed to prevent illegal dumping of waste.
“They basically said this shouldn’t happen because the service is provided for free,” she told KOIN 6 News.
After March Environmental Services Department offers free pump out For people who live in RV. All the person has to do is call and the city crew will come out for free.
Sassano wants people to spread the word about it.
“I think it takes a minute or two to make a call instead of driving up and down a residential area,” she said.
