Jackson County, Missouri (KCTV)-A man in Overland Park was convicted of raping a patient while working as a nurse in an independent hospital.

According to the Jackson County Public Prosecutor’s Office Chukwuemeka U. Emmanuel was convicted of one rape or attempted rape after a bench trial.

The sentencing will take place on January 27, 2021.

According to court documents, a patient at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence told police that she had been raped by her nurse. Police identified the nurse as Emmanuel.

At that time, the patient was given morphine and other narcotics because of the pain.

The patient told police that he was cleaning her when he inserted his finger and his genitals into her. She told Emmanuel that she had hurt her several times and asked him to stop.

Another nurse at Centerpoint told police she had a relationship with Emmanuel. She said Emmanuel called her and said she would go to Nigeria because she was accused of rape. At that time she thought he was in New York or Nigeria.
