KOIN, Oregon – One of Portland’s most iconic restaurants served a final Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. When I enjoyed the last day at a landmark in Northwest Portland, the food was full.

Paylies Place It will close on Saturday night after a 26-year business period. A reservation list full of people who want to cheers to the owners who helped map the Portland restaurant scene over 20 years ago.

If you’ve been to Paley’s Place, you may have come to Kimberly Paley’s legendary hospitality, or a combination of magical dishes prepared by chef Vitaly Paley in the kitchen.

“I was lucky to be able to book here because I’ve been particularly busy this month,” said long-time customer Ralph Schweinfers.

Schweinfurth and his family have been here for over 25 years. They call it a “Thanksgiving spot”.

“It’s the complete package they offer, you have the service, you have a great meal, you have consistency, it’s so much because they’re doing everything well It’s great, “said Schweinfurth.

Another longtime customer, Andrea Johnson, says he has spent almost all his vacation at Paley’s restaurants over the last decade.

“For so many people who may not have a traditional holiday supper, I think it really helped bring the community together,” Johnson said.

But it’s a bittersweet holiday for everyone.

“This was our life,” said owner Kimberly Paley.

Payley’s told KOIN 6 News that he decided to go out in the treble.

“We pause for a minute and take a little time to breathe together. We are very busy in a day at a time,” Kimberly Paley said.

The decision hasn’t been easy, especially when it comes to saying goodbye to long-time customers.

“I want to say that it wouldn’t last for 26 years without customers,” Kimberly Paley said.

Paley said he has spent all Thanksgiving at the restaurant since it opened.

“This is Paley’s traditional holiday. We’ve been doing it for 26 years. Except for working here, it wasn’t once every 26 years. Looking forward to the next Thanksgiving. Perhaps we will have Thanksgiving with our husband, “Paley said.

To commemorate the last meal here, the Schweinfers family brought in a bottle of wine purchased from Paylies during the pandemic.

This wine was created as part of a collaboration with the winery, especially in combination with Paley’s signature dishes.

“I took it home to celebrate my meal, so I went around from here to our house and came back again,” Schweinfirth said.

Johnson said it was impossible to replace the Paylies Place.

“I’m very happy that Vitaly and Kimberly have the energy to enjoy their future vacations, but they have taken great care of us all over the years, like their restaurants and hospitality. There is no other place. “
