Panama City, FL – Bay County doctors attend Zoom warning of increase in COVID-19

Panama City, FL –

FLA OF THE CITY OF PANAMA. (WMBB– On Saturday, Bay County doctors and ministers held a Zoom call to discuss the risks of the Delta variant of COVID-19. The event was hosted by the Bay County LEAD Coalition.

Over the past week, Bay County has on average more than 200 cases of COVID every day. Currently, only 44 percent of the county is vaccinated.

“I call it the unvaccinated pandemic,” said Dr Ahmad Rifai. “This is no longer my pandemic and if you have been vaccinated, it is no longer your pandemic. This is the unvaccinated pandemic and it is the reality we live in today in Bay County. “

Rather than reminding viewers of the call to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact with large numbers of people, Rifai taught viewers different ways to be careful.

“These are things we have to do, vitamin D, a low calorie diet, a good night’s sleep,” Rifai said. “And last but not the least is taking a shower or flooding our system with probiotics.”

Medical authorities have mentioned that it is important to receive high intakes of vitamin D. For black residents, Rifai said that it is even more important to ensure that they are receiving high amounts of vitamin D.

While vaccinated seniors could suffer from contracting COVID-19, which could lead to hospitalization, most vaccinated people should not be worried about COVID-19 infection.

“Most likely, they won’t be in the hospital,” Rifai said of those vaccinated who may contract COVID-19. “Most likely, they won’t be in the intensive care unit or on a ventilator. And extremely rare and unlikely to suffer illness and death from this virus. “
