Panama City, FL –
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Bay County Jail staff and custodial assistants were celebrated during National Correctional Officer Week.
They were treated to a catered lunch in honor of the work they do.
Major Rick Anglin, warden of the prison, said prison workers have persevered a lot, including Hurricane Michael and the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that although they have a week of activities to celebrate, it takes more than a week for them to show their appreciation to the prison staff and assistants.
“So what we’re trying to do here at the sheriff’s office is we try to recognize them all year round,” Major Anglin said. “Sometimes you’re busy, we’re all busy and we all do things, but we always try to remember to thank our employees for what they do on a daily basis, not just once a year.”
