FREEPORT, Florida (WMBB) – Summer camps start in the Panhandle, including a girls’ camp in Walton County.
Longleaf Camp in Freeport runs three weeklong camp sessions in July for girls ages 9-14.
The first session starts in the first week of July, and they are always encouraging more campers to register.
Deputy camp director Krysta Ponek said Camp Longleaf is a mix of traditional sleeping camp with environmental education.
She also said that they are delighted the camps are starting, as camp leaders and counselors organize fun, nature-based activities.
“We’ll have dip nets, hiking, outdoor education, environmental factors, then we’ll have bird bingo, camp danger, super fun camp songs, and lots of camp games, well. safe, and animal encounters with our Animal Ambassador at the EO Wilson Biophilia Center, ”said Ponek.
