PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – This Tuesday evening, Panama City leaders are hosting a meeting on the Harrison Avenue Streetscape project that details the upcoming multi-million dollar makeover in downtown Panama City.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Panama City City Hall located at 501 Harrison Avenue.
The first phase of the project will begin on Harrison Avenue near Government Street and extend to Fourth Street, where the focal point will be a roundabout and a clock tower.
There will also be reconstruction work on side streets to include Beach Drive, Oak Avenue and Fourth Street.
The main works include replacing water and sewer infrastructure, laying paving stones, widening sidewalks, and improving lighting and signage. The project will be carried out in three phases.
A construction contract has been awarded to the company Royal American Construction for just over $ 7 million.
At the meeting, representatives from the City’s Public Works Department and the Royal American Construction Company will discuss the construction schedule and the scope of the project. They will also answer all questions from the public.
