Panama City, FL –
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Bay County Commission has a new board member after Doug Moore was officially sworn in as District Four Commissioner on Tuesday morning.
Moore was joined by friends and family in the ceremony at Tuesday’s county committee meeting, sworn in with outgoing commissioners.
He said he felt honored to have been elected and that he was excited to serve the community, with big priorities in mind like improving roads and growing community centers.
He added that he was delighted to be working alongside the Commissioners, as he had previously worked with them as the former volunteer president of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.
“It was a real honor to be able to be up there with the gentlemen who have served before,” said Moore. “I’ve worked with them in another capacity over the last few years and it’s not something I ever expected to be able to have, but it was truly a great honor to be elected.
Moore will serve the last two years of former commissioner Keith Baker’s tenure, having resigned earlier this year after being indicted in an FBI corruption scandal. Moore said he believes he will be an important addition to the team.
“I think I’m going to be very complementary to the skills they have and I think this will allow us to cover county and community issues from a lot of different angles,” he said. “We can flesh things out more comprehensively for the community.”
