Panama City, FL – Freeport hosts annual FCA 7on7 football camp

Panama City, FL –

FREEPORT Fla. (WMBB) – Panhandle high school football teams took to the field Wednesday for friendly competition with the Freeport FCA 7on7 Tournament.

FCA focuses on more than football, it finds ways to improve the environment for players.

“So the Christian Athlete Community actually works through the four Cs,” FCA Director Michelle Carmical said. “And so it’s to and through the coach, on the campuses, and it’s in the communities and it’s with the camps. So as you can see and through the coach we are here to serve coaches and we are here to make that difference for coaches and raise these athletes to a level of strong faith, family and fun with the soccer.

Throughout the day, players listened to guest speakers and played scrimmage matches. After lunch, the players kicked off the competition with a knockout tournament.

Freeport head football coach Shaun Arntz says the players get a lot out of these summer tournaments.

“You can always coach the kids, there’s always a score that’s kept, there’s always a standard that’s kept,” Arntz said. Your quarterback and receivers are obviously working on their timing, but it’s also a great job on defense. But, you know, coaches, the big thing that I think we take away from that is that we can still maintain that level, show our kids exactly what we expect of them in terms of competition, the way you know sportsmanship, and just the way they run their plays and things.

The FCA has accomplished its mission of sharing faith and fun on the football pitch.
