Panama City, FL – Gulf County schools to close early over coronavirus concerns | MyPanhandle.com

Panama City, FL –

GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Schools in Gulf County will close earlier this week due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Gulf Superintendent Jim Norton.

You can read his full statement below:

“We are fortunate to come to the end of our first semester and I am grateful to everyone who worked so hard to make this possible.

However, COVID remains a reality. We have made the decision to close schools a bit early for the Christmas holidays in order to give anyone who may have tested positive the opportunity to recuperate and give families some free time before Christmas.

The school will lay off at noon this Wednesday December 16 and there will be no school on Thursday December 17 or Friday December 18. We hope this will add a little more relaxation to what we are praying for for a restful vacation period.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

See you soon when we return in January. “
