Panama City, FL –
NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) – Law enforcement raided Brian Laundrie’s family home on Monday as Gabby Petito’s fiancé, who has been identified by police as a person of interest in his disappearance, is still missing.
WFLA’s Christine McLarty was outside Laundrie’s family home in North Port on Monday morning and reported seeing around 15 FBI and North Port police units invading the home. Footage from the scene shows police taped around the house.
“FBI Executes Court Authorized Search Warrant [Monday] at Laundrie’s residence in North Port, Florida, in connection with the investigation of Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito, “the FBI said in a statement. “No further details can be provided as this is an active and ongoing investigation.”
Law enforcement activity comes hours after North Port Police said they were no longer looking for Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie, who was reported missing by his family on Friday. According to police, family members were last seen leaving the house on Tuesday with hiking gear.
“At the moment, we currently believe that we have exhausted all possibilities of searching for land there,” North Port Police PIO Josh Taylor said in a statement. “Law enforcement continues to search for Brian Laundrie.”
Laundrie is the fiancé of Gabby Petito, who disappeared during a trip across the country the two took together this summer. Police say Laundrie returned home on her own in North Port on September 1 and was later named a Person of Interest in the missing persons case involving Petito, 22.
A body found Sunday in Wyoming matches Petito’s description, according to FBI agents. However, a full forensic identification was not done to “100% confirm that we have found Gabby”.
