PANAMA CITY BEACH, Florida (WMBB– While investigating a shooting in Panama City Beach Bay, county deputies uncovered another crime, they said Wednesday.
The incident began Monday night when the Bay County Sheriff’s Office was called in over a shooting at a home in Annabella Lane. MPs found Sabastian Spiegelhalter, 18, with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Spiegelhalter was able to provide a description to BCSO MPs as he was rushed to a local hospital.
Investigators determined that 18-year-old Damenike T. Lakes shot Spiegelhalter and a subsequent interview with Lakes led to his admission that he shot Spiegelhalter in the stomach, MPs wrote in a press release.
“During the shooting investigation, we learned that Lakes was sexually active with a 14-year-old. Interviews with Lakes and the youngster led both to admit that they had had sex on at least three different occasions.
Lakes was charged with aggravated battery with a lethal weapon and three counts of obscene or lascivious battery against a minor under the age of 16.
