PANAMA CITY, Florida (WMBB) – A man from Ponce De Leon was seriously injured when he crashed a vehicle while fleeing police in Panama City Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol reported on Friday.
The incident happened around 2:20 a.m. on State 79 near School Avenue, soldiers wrote. They added that the 29-year-old was driving a black truck when he refused to stop for a police officer who tried to stop him.
Instead, it continued north at “high speed”. The soldiers wrote that the policeman refused to continue chasing the man. However, the vehicle overturned and struck a tree shortly thereafter.
Troopers wrote that it took about two hours to get the driver out of the vehicle and that the charges in the case are pending an investigation.
