Panama City, FL – Superintendent’s son indicted in deadly traffic accident

Panama City, FL –

GENEVA COUNTY, Alabama (WDHNThe son of the Geneva County Superintendent was charged with manslaughter in the death of a Florida woman in July, court records show.

On Wednesday, William J. Birdsong, 18, was indicted by a grand jury with manslaughter over the death of Barbara Joyce Spears, 70, of Westville, Fla., Allegedly struck by Birdsong in a construction area on the State Highway 167, one mile south of the city limits of Hartford.

Birdsong was also charged with second degree assault for injuring another victim in the four-car pileup.

Birdsong was released on $ 115,000 bail.

Birdsong’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 3.
