Panama City, FL – Suzuki facility approved

Panama City, FL –

PANAMA CITY, Florida (WMBB) – Suzuki can start building its Suzuki Motor of America engine test center near Robinson Bayou.

Suzuki officials plan to start construction next week. They expect the project to be completed around this time next year.

“Having something else on the water diversifies our economy,” Panama Mayor Gre Brudnicki said. “We are more than you know the beach. We are more than the things that currently exist.

Suzuki officials have planned a center in Panama City for more than a year. To get residents to approve the plan, Suzuki reduced its dock slips from 40 to 26.

“The original plans we started with were for 40 sheets in the private hospitality facility, and we’ve reduced that number to 26,” said Joe Winkeler, Suzuki project manager.

Brudnicki expects the plant to create 26 jobs. As it grows, more jobs will be created, Brudnicki said.

“A company of this size doesn’t buy so many properties just to do high-tech things for a particular aspect of their business. So I’m sure they will expand.

Suzuki bought almost 18 acres of land.
