Panic-buying continues as Colonial restarts pipeline operations – Washington, District of Columbia

Colonial has resumed pipeline operations due to low fuel and often lack of gas at gas stations throughout the DC region.

Gasoline is currently flowing north through the colonial pipeline, but panic buying has many gas stations throughout the DC region without fuel.

As of 10 pm Thursday, 79% of gas stations in the district, 52% of gas stations in Virginia, and 41% of gas stations in Maryland, according to Patrick De Haan, Head of Oil Analysis at GasBuddy.com. Was out of gas.

These percentages are expected to be even higher as there is a further shortage of gasoline before fuel is re-distributed to retailers.

Gas stations in some Washington, DC areas have told WTOP that they expect to ship gasoline on Friday or Saturday.

The Department of Energy said gasoline availability should return to normal within a few days.

President Joe Biden said U.S. officials do not believe the Kremlin was involved in hacking the colonial pipeline, but “there is a strong reason to believe that the attacking criminals live in Russia.” It was.
