Denver — Parents of twin babies and another child were arrested for child abuse after authorities discovered that twin six-week-old boys were seriously injured, Jefferson County Security Office said Saturday Announced in.
Congressmen arrested Jeremy Esposito, 34, and his wife, Johnel Esposito, 28, on Friday. They were booked at Jefferson County Detention Center on multiple charges, each containing four counts of felony child abuse.
He was arrested after one of his twin babies was seriously injured and taken to the hospital on October 3. The agent responded to the hospital and later learned that the baby had the same twins and older siblings at home.
According to the sheriff’s office, authorities visited the house to confirm the welfare of the other twins and siblings and found that other babies were also seriously injured.
Injuries to twin boys include skull fractures, spinal cord injuries, leg fractures, rib fractures, genital injuries, burns and bruises around the face, and severe malnutrition. According to the sheriff’s office, one of the twins also tested positive for illegal drugs.
The sheriff’s office places twins in child protection services, and older siblings are with other families.
